Integrative Wellness Coaching
As an Integrative Wellness Coach & Massage Therapist, I look at the big picture as well as the pieces. My work focuses on assisting my clients in connecting the dots between those various aspects of self, while nurturing deep relaxation, educating, and encouraging healthy and simple lifestyle changes to improve overall health, energy, and optimal mood.
We can't control everything that happens in our lives. One thing we DO have control over is the value we place on ourselves and on our Self-Care routines.
The Lumberjack Story - What in the world does Self-Care have to do with a lumberjack?
The way the story goes is there was a lumberjack who found himself in a log sawing contest. He was determined to win and be recognized for being the brawniest, strongest lumberjack there! He diligently kept sawing logs as fast as he could, confident he could win because he noticed after a short time his opponent kept taking breaks. This encouraged him. He "knew" that if he kept sawing the same way, he would win!
He hastily wiped the sweat off his brow. Sawdust was flying everywhere! He sawed and sawed until his muscles were burning, fueled by the knowledge that he was working much faster than his competitor and was sure to win. When the time was up and the cut logs were counted, the lumberjack found that his opponent had actually sawed more logs in spite of taking breaks.
Astonished, he asked the man about it, "how in blazes did you cut more logs than me when you kept taking breaks?" The competitor replied, "whenever I stopped, I went behind that tree and sharpened my saw. That's how!!"
So, the moral of the story is, love yourself enough to take time to "sharpen your saw." You will find that taking time for self-care is an investment in yourself that will repay you many times over. I look forward to working with you as you continue your journey through life becoming the "best version of you" possible!
